ARTIST’S STATEMENT

My work derives primarily from personal narrative. The emotional sub-text is expressed allegorically. The landscape becomes the symbolic representation of my inner world; figures represent different parts of my human nature. Trees symbolize other people, both living and dead. Objects represent desires, hopes, and unattainable ideals.

Choosing to be an artist is a choice of hope for the future, an act of faith in the ability to solve our problems and move forward. The blank canvas is the ever changing tableaux upon which we express our will and desire to envision the world as a better place.
